Partnership

Core to the South African Renewables Initiative is an international partnership between the South African government and other governments and public entities, collaborating to enable South Africa to achieve its ambition for large scale renewables development.

The framework for the Partnership including its scope, partner roles and organization of the initiative are laid out in a Declaration of Intent.

Founding members of the partnership are:

Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

European Investment Bank

Within the South African Government SARi is guided by a cross departmental Project Steering Commitee, co-chaired by the Department of Energy and the  Department of Trade and Industry.

Contributions towards the development work for the initiative by the UK Government’s Department for International Development and the European Climate Foundation, as well as administrative and technical advisory support from WWF South Africa and the international technical team which helped to develop SARi are gratefully acknowledged.
